The Gods Don't Choose Just Anyone To Save Their People
Brandr only wanted to get out of the house, learning how to be one of the mighty raiders of his people was just a bonus. Thanks to his father's guidance, he's thriving. He even makes a friend, and that's new for Ulfr and Brandr both. Unfortunately, he also found himself a rival - Sigrid - when his first sparring match goes awry. Something happens that Brandr can't explain and his mother refuses to. He's never liked secrets, and these ones are too close for comfort.
Before he can dwell on what his family secrets might mean, the raiding season comes. His father and the other raiders leave for the summer. The villagers get back to work. Things go back to normal. At least, until something unseen sweeps through his home, leaving sick and delirious people in its wake. Brandr can't let his mom (or the crush he's trying to impress) get worse. He has to make a plan, but he's never left his village and has no idea where to start.
Then the dreams started. Dark, cryptic warnings. Nothing but omens and a promise should they fail. Thrown together with Ulfr and Sigrid, who have reasons and secrets of their own, Brandr has a crew. He has a heading. He has a path.
What he doesn't have is time.
Meet the Author
Hello hello! I'm Maddie, and I'm a debut author out of the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I was born and raised here, and it certainly shows in my writing. I'm an avid reader of fantasy, historical fiction, the spooky, and the unsettling. I read everything from Middle Reader through Adult.
Yule's Son, as a concept, was born around the Winter Solstice in 2013. It took me several years to complete, with the help and guidance of a small group of friends that have been there since the beginning. With them, I began and finished the second book, Liar's Price. Since then, I started the third book - Heart's Blood - before turning my attention back to the first.
The last couple of years have been re-framed around getting Yule's Son ready to publish. I'm ready to finally take the plunge. Publishing takes a village, and I'm hoping to expand mine - and I'm so happy to be sharing Yule's Son with new readers.
